A shocking 345 abandoned dogs were picked up every day by UK dog wardens last year - read the story in The Telegraph and understand why the situation is desperate and the national charity Dogs' Trust needs your help to save lives.
We are raising money for Dogs' Trust with a sponsored dog walk - Waggy Walk Cheshire. It is open to the public so please help us spread the word and invite everyone you know so we can help to save as many of these poor dogs as possible.
Waggy Walk Cheshire is on Saturday October 22nd between 1pm-4pm, is open to the public and children are welcome, though we must advise that the terrain and gates are unfortunately not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
Location:The event is in Altrincham, Cheshire and our circular route (1.4 km per lap) will take in the beautiful sights of Denzell Gardens and The Devisdale (SatNav reference: WA14 4QE). Our starting point is the lawn behind Denzell House. Either set yourself an appropriate numbr of laps to complete or ask sponsors to pay a specified amount per lap.
Parking: Free on-road parking is available around the various entrances to the Devisdale on Green Walk, Green Courts, The Firs, St. Margaret's Road, Groby Road and Devisdale Road. Please be courteous for local residents.
All dogs must be walked on a lead for the event and sensible outdoor clothing and footwear is advised. Click on Rules and Guidelines for more information.
Facilities: Public toilets will be open and drinking water available for dogs. Hot and cold drinks and food will be available to buy, along with Dogs' Trust merchandise and other fundraising gifts.
Registration: Whether you would like to take part in the walk or help as a marshal (perhaps because your dog is too old or young), please register now and you will receive a lovely warm Waggy Walk hat and stickers in the post. Entrance fees are payable on the day by cash or cheque - £5 per adult (includes a year's membership of our Friends group which looks after Denzell & The Devisdale, plus a goodie bag) and £1 per under 18 (includes a goodie bag).
Please join us and have fun for a very worthwhile cause.
